Paint out notes, June 29, 2018

Today we visited the Diebenkorn exhibit at the Portland Art Museum. We learned a lot about Diebenkorn's early career (he won a grant for $1200 and used the money to live for a YEAR in New York City. (Well, it was the 1950's).

Diebenkorn painted non-objectively, but then also painted plein air and from life (He's painting outdoors in this photo)

After checking out the exhibit some of us painted in the Park Blocks, directly in front of the Museum.
It was very fun to paint with everyone, but the "guests of honor" were ("Charter Member") Carolyn Rondthaler, who is visiting from Washington, DC and Nanine Alexander, visiting from Barcelona.

Our next Paint Out is Thursday July 5, 9am. Our host is Geri Graley.  We will meet at the Portland Women's Fourm. We'll update with an invitation from our blog and on Facebook too.

Thanks to everyone for coming out today!

* 9am is the recommended time, but come as your schedule permits, bring all your painting/sketching gear and a chair and a lunch.

If I didn't get a good shot of your painting email it to me and I'll upload the preferred version. Thanks again everyone! celesteobergin (at)gmail (dot) com

We'll have news soon about "regular" Alla Prima Portland Thursday meetings. Stay tuned.  Follow the blog/and/or Facebook for updates.
