Tim Young:  16x20, oil on canvas...Spring! 12x16 oil on panel, two lips, tulips, at the river, gouache on watercolor paper

Regina Atwood: Spring!....Tiny Feet and Flowering Jewels

Jeanie Bates: this is 5 of 6, 8 X 8, on panel. Making masks? I'm almost finished with the 6 8" X 8" panels. Still contemplating a couple of them.

Celeste Bergin: Hi all, are you enjoying your “retreat”? All the leisure has felt foreign to me…but I am getting used to it. Well, and thanks for all the work for this blog, so that I don't get TOO soft.. ha! I am grateful to paint and draw. What do people who don't paint and draw do? Oh, wait, I think they are baking. Well, I especially loved painting the “Cani-bus” on site that is parked in a parking lot of a nearby coffee shop. (Gouache) When the shop is open the bus is part of the business, and people can board it to purchase and smoke (now legal) cannibus. How very Oregon! Of course, it's not open for business now, the parking lot empty except for the cool bus.  I am also showing two recent Spring florals …cameillas from our yard.

Tracie Broughton: This was painted in West Linn, my best take on Spring!

Kimberly Chai: The (Spring) watercolor sketch from photo I took. Pencil drawing of Yeva...and this pitbull pup is one of my cousin’s pet sitting clients. Oil on canvas board , 9 x 12”.

Tedd Chilless: “Coastal Breeze-Self Portrait” 12”x12” oil sketch. Today, I walked into my studio after spending a couple days doing a charcoal self portrait. It was good but I wanted to do something more impressionistic. I like to go the beach and enjoy the sound of waves. It seems you’re always leaning into the wind. This painting was fun.... Like my Dad used to say: ”Let the paint paint”.

Stephanie Cissna: Spring just the way I feel it should be! Wish I was there. Partly inspired by a photo by Tim Young.

Mark Ivan Cole: "Continuity" Various soft pastels on Fabriano Elle Erre, 10x8"
Long before I passed this way, the stream was quietly carving a path. In that time, countless trees have grown, flourished, perished, fallen, and bequeathed their sustenance to the generations that follow. Though my own reality may seem disrupted, the cycle is long, the continuity remains unbroken. Painting 2: "The Quiet" Various soft pastels on Canson, 10x8" We walk the path in silence, our footfalls tapping out a soft rhythm behind the birdsong. The trees speak in hushed whispers. Even time slows, here in the quiet.

Hilarie Couture: Pastel of First Spring days in my yard

Tom Daniels: Outside today and Footbridge over a creek

Serena Dinsmore: Transcription of Monet's The Dinner.

Geri Graley: Spring always reminds me of our Easter egg hunts in the backyard! Graphite on Bristol paper.

Bhavani Krishnan: I've been painting the view from my window in different lighting conditions... I felt this one represents spring best with the green color scheme.

Robin Laughlin:  Here’s a less camouflaged picture of my backyard plein air from Sunday. Feeling grateful for the time to paint and for the fact of trilliums one the backyard/jungle.
There used to be another set of leaves in this but it was so mangled I just wiped it out and was about to wipe out the whole thing but taking out those leaves led to more wipes elsewhere and that felt kinda good on an emotional level...so I kept it for now. Fascinating!

Ken Mazzochi: This is my latest!

Mary  McNeil: Painting: Waiting for summer! Rood Bridge park last summer.
Daffodils on a walk in Jenkins Estate, Spring quickies-random wildflowers-watercolor/walnut ink.

Peggie Moje': These past few weeks I have been painting the view of Mt. Hood off Hwy 282.  It’s amazing how the light changes everything.

Wendy Morseth: Self Portrait ...and here are some recent paintings painted on my ipad.

Sarah Peroutka: Selfie from when I was soooo happy to get my rose gold iPhone.

Mike Porter: This week’s effort. A bit over worked in places. Sometimes it’s just so hard to stop fiddling with it.

Donna Sanson: "Something That Grows In My Yard" It's a pretty plant that just showed up one year and returns each spring. Most plants don't survive my gardening skills so this plant must be in the "hardy" category.

Jeffrey Scherer Staying inside...and thinking about my children.

Raphael Schnepf: Water Garden 1 - 12" x 9" oil on muslin board.

George Schweser: This was the ‘super’ moon Tuesday at 8pm . It was amazing! The drawing is pastel ,6 x 8 on Canson royal blue paper

Kristina Sellers: Iris you were here ! This 9x12 painting is one that will eventually be in my solo show "Fill the Earth with Flowers" at the Marilyn Affolter Gallery in McMinnville.

Jessi Sevy: I like the comfort of being indoor, so haven't really been painting outside. But plein air is definitely something I want to learn to do. I got a paintbox in Christmas, so hoping to join everyone this summer. Although I need to start in the backyard... I did this little sketch a few days ago. I guess it feels spring enough.

Nancy Smith Klos:  Mom's Red Planter Oil on 9 x 12" panel Blue Bearded Iris Oil on 2 x 4' board(detail) Iris...sumi.e  12 x 18" ink on rice paper Sentinel  2 x 4' oil on cradleboard

Linda Sprau: “Peony” acrylic on canvas

Donna Stevens: My “friends” are painting (drawing) themselves far more slowly than I anticipated! The last photo-realistic piece I did was probably in high school. It’s been a great opportunity to study values and to attempt to get the volume of a shape to “read” correctly.

Sarah Stroud: Here is my newest webcomic issue with sort of a self-portrait? Link to read both pages:

Quin Sweetman: My selfie-in-progress. Hard to get a good likeness cause model keeps moving

Jim Syfert: Busy week, stay at home, work in yard, help my wife with sewing masks. ❤️
Take care and stay healthy!

Joanne Thorpe: Hi all. Hope you are all staying safe. What a beautiful day it was. All the windows open! I appreciate the spring theme.  I took out the knife and had a great time with this 8 x 10 cottage scene. Then I painted the beach scene to go in this gold frame. 6 x 8. Hope to get out to paint real soon!

Loretta Unger: I painted this in Geneva, Switzerland —(in the springtime)!  Oil on Canvas

Bonny Wagoner: I tell folks I collect sunrises.  Truth is I simply appreciate those precious handful of minutes just before the sun crests the horizon on clear days.  It's magical. My view of Mt Adams from Pixie Park.  That's the Columbia River in the foreground. I have a pile of attempts to capture the sunrises here, some better, some worse.  I still have a ways to go before I nail it.

Elo Wobig: A while ago James Gurney had put out a challenge for artists to paint a weed. Even though I didn’t do it at the time, it was always stuck in my mind. It seems that sheltering in is a perfect occasion to paint what was around the house. Since we haven’t done much yardwork for some time it wasn’t hard to find this particular subject matter.  It was just a tiny button of a flower so I picked up an small sized panel and used it for this study. Within a half an hour my husband was out with the mower, and now this little dandelion is gone. 6x5.75 inch oil
After sheltering in these past few weeks, I decided that it was ok to get out there and paint, especially as the weather had cleared considerably. I headed off to Scouter’s Mountain for a glorious view. I really wanted to indicate that it was spring, so I used two vantage points to capture the blooming clover. The effect of social distancing meant that nobody interrupted me. 9x12

Yong Hong Zhong: Less is more, what you leave out is just as important as what you put into your painting. I have been working with the amazing people @johanvineyards for the past couple of months on very special project.

Vicki Zimmerman: At home last week when it was raining I felt isolated.   Fortunately, we have sunshine this week and I can now experience our beautiful Portland spring.

From Harley Talkington: A number of members in Alla Prima are gracing the Pittock Mansion with their renderings of Mt. Hood. Now you can see them in this virtual show

Talks continue about a Zoom session for Alla Prima Portland…we thought it would be fun to make it into a sketching session. Stay tuned, we really are working on it. In the meanwhile ...why not familiarize yourself with Zoom?
