(Comments in Alphabetical order)

Celeste Bergin: Recent painting of a dancer on textured surface (Quang Ho inspiration) / I found some Yupo paper and swirled some watercolors onto it. (Then I folded it and it came out like a Rorschach inkblot test). "Experimental" / recent painting of a figure /

Bets Cole: painting4thursday

Tom Daniels: Columbia River / Country Store

Kathy D Allegri: 27 July 2020 "Mauna Nounou, Kaua`i" Watercolor 14" x 19"

Karen Shawcross: "First poppies" soft pastel. Experimental because I tried a clear gesso underpainting.

Nancy Smith-Klos: Cyanotype experiments from the week Textile designs from the sun/  Dahlias 11 x 14" wc /

Jim Syfert:  Experiments from this week: Had a last minute chance to go back to Grice’s farm, decided to just take my charcoal setup and managed 3 experimental setups in about two hours. Fast and fun to just draw with the charcoal and not get wrapped up with detail.
Out at Grice’s farm today, decided to paint the old rundown shed. / “Experimental”. Basic background and non fruit items all done with Van Dyke brown and raw umber and/or a combination of them. Fruit is the only color in the painting, shadows on the fruit is a mix of ivory black, cad red light and cad yellow deep. Photos include the in process steps. Just trying to have some fun. (horses): “Experimental”. Trying different color scheme on a painting I will be working on. These are 5 1/2 x 7. Final will be 22x28.

Harley Talkington: “Experimental” Lost in Venice Pastels 12x16 The final painting here is very different from where I started. This began as an abstract watercolor under painting based on a plein air painting of a wall. I added impasto to my first simple shapes. Then while looking through photos on my iPad I rediscovered a very busy, intense, disorienting photo reference from a trip to Venice. I decided to roughly sketch it out over the top of what I had done. This became my first cityscape and definitely remains my loosest impressionistic painting so far. It was serendipitous synchronicity.

Joanne Thorpe:  I’m still experimenting with flowers, particularly with roses on my mind. 8 x 10s.

Kathy Towne: Two 9x12's painted at Peninsula Park a couple weeks ago.

Loretta Unger: Experiment: painting stairs./ Experiment with knife-only, semi-abstract water lily.

Za Vue: Tuesday 7/20/2020 Studio Za demo of figure with background.

Tim Young: I haven’t done a palette knife painting that wasn’t a landscape so I thought I would experiment with the knife in a larger format still-life In my new outdoor studio/catio. The cats kindly granted permission. 20x16 oil on canvas panel. I decided to add the shadows that didn't appear until I was done Sunday. / 9x12 Ink and gouache on 90 lb. multimedia paper. Oak island An experiment with gouache (an opaque medium), watered down to a transparent, more like watercolor paint. / 12x16 oil on canvas panel
Summertime

Vicki Zimmerman:  I experimented with following Monet’s lead.   I went back to the same Sauvie Island site for several mornings.  Each day the weather varied as did the light and the atmosphere.  It was satisfying to be familiar with the place but to find interesting variations.

Yong Hong Zhong:  Plein air painting at a park near my house./ White Lacecap Hydrangea.
