WHEN: January 16-18, 9am-3pm
WHERE: Brush and Palette (4962 SE Jennings Road in Portland)
WHAT: Join me for a workshop focusing on the ongoing journey of color study! Plunge headfirst into the great depths of color theory and the practice of color mixing exploration in this hands-on class. The goal of this class is the study of a practical way of thinking about discovery and invention in color, and then work on applying it in an actual painting. You will acquire techniques that will eventually become fluid and subconscious. Along with discovery of the colors we are using on our palette (and their individual pigments, transparency and opacity), there will be an emphasis placed on identifying the value, intensity and temperature of color, mixing techniques and exploration of various effects.

PAINTING THE CITY Plein Air
WHEN: May 15-17th 9am-4pm
WHERE: Oregon Society of Artists (2185 SW Park Place, Portland, OR 97205)
WHAT: Painting plein air is always a little more challenging than painting in the studio, but painting plein air in the city can be down right overwhelming. In this class, we’ll be learning how to paint the city from life; where to stand, how to handle different situations, and more importantly how to paint the bustling beauty in front of you! Jennifer teaches on an individual basis, so all levels of painters are encouraged to come out and join in the fun. What she will be focusing on in class is how to simplify what you are looking at in order to create a successful painting. Come join Jennifer for a few days of fun and learning in beautiful downtown Portland, right outside of OSA ....thus we have all the conveniences, yet we're amongst the moving city life!
CONTACT: Oregon Society of Artists (503) 228-0706 or oregonsa@gmail.com
COST: $350 (OSA members) $375 (non OSA members)
