Mitch Baird Workshop, June 2 &3, 2012

2012 Oregon Plein Air Painting Workshop

with
Mitch Baird

Join award winning artist Mitch Baird for a plein air painting experience capturing the beautiful Northwest landscape. The workshop will cover the fundamental principles of painting and composition as well as learning to ‘see’ as an artist. Drawing, value, color, and edges will be stressed as well as building a strong design from the elements of nature.

Demonstrations each morning will show how to implement these technical concepts, followed by individual instruction with each student as they work in the afternoons. The workshop will be for all skill levels and all media types (oil, acrylic, and watercolor). The class will be limited to 15 students to ensure individual attention. The date and location setting of the workshop will be:

June 2nd & 3rd
on Sauvie Island near Portland, Oregon
from 9am – 4pm

The workshop is in conjunction with Mitch Baird's solo show at Arton the Boulevard www.artontheboulevard.org in Vancouver, WA on Friday, June 1st.

Cost $60 per session

This class is open to beginners on up. We will cover composition, color, edges and the use of expressive brush strokes to give life and energy to your painting. The atmosphere will be informal and friendly so come and enjoy a Saturday or two of still life painting.

You will need: an easel, canvas, paintbrushes, odor-less minerals spirits and drop cloth. Also, bring a lunch and something to drink. There are a couple of restaurants and a coffee shop located in the courtyard near the gallery so you can also get something there to eat and drink.
